My birthday was at the end of the Ashes cricket series this year. So for my cake wish, I wished for a cricket cake. My mum used the Basic Vanilla Cake Recipe to create this fantastic cricket pitch that is highlighted in the amazing Australian Women’s Weekly Children’s Birthday Cake Book.
There’s been requests for our yummy Rocky Road recipe… For Oliver’s class birthday party this year (which was his first class party as I couldn’t get my head around cooking all the allergy friendly party food from scratch, for 20+ kids) he requested a rock climbing themed cake as he was having a rock climbing party. I have to explain here… I blame my mum for this (in a good way) as she baked for each and every one of her 4 children, every year, a Women’s Weekly Children’s Birthday Cake cake. They were amazing and every year she took the time to make one for each of us. We loved them and this is where the tradition started… I had made the Mickey Mouse cake for Oliver’s older brother’s 1st birthday, then I made my all time favourite… the Women’s Weekly train for his second birthday (with the help of the expert herself, my mum) and the day after my first son’s 2nd birthday was when our world spun and spun and spun out of control, never to spin in the same way again… Continue reading “FAW – Day 6 – Rocky Road”
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to all mum’s but especially to all the special food allergy mum’s out there that care, look after and keep safe their allergy children every minute of every day… I have some love to share with you today for all the amazing work you do! Here’s a yummy egg free, dairy free, wheat free, nut free scrummy (scrumptious+yummy), chocolate cake! Enjoy… you deserve it!!
I love making Snowballs because when you roll the mixture into balls your hands get all sticky. (I usually lick my hands… after I’m done of course).
Another day closer to the big party bash and another party food item checked off Oliver’s party food list!
As we have to make basically all our food from scratch it is important that we are super organised when preparing for any food celebrations, whether that be Easter, Christmas, or birthdays… And Oliver’s birthday is no exception. I try and space out the cooking as cooking for 20 kids is exhausting. So today, I spent the day making sausage rolls and I will cook and freeze them, ready for the big day.
My choice for my party food menu is:
Party Pies, Sausage Rolls, Nuggets, Rocky Road, Chocolate Cupcakes, Crunchy Caramel Popcorn, Salted Chips, Fruit And Marshmallow Sticks and last of all a Special Birthday Cake of course.
Stay tuned in the coming days for the recipe posts so you can learn more about me and my recipes!
Mum’s Post – As Oliver’s birthday is in January we have never really worked out when it is best to have a party for him with his friends. We always celebrate on his birthday with family and a couple of his friends but we have never managed to have a class party.
